I knew it had been a while since I had blogged, but I didn't realize it was three weeks ago. GEESH! So here's what's been happening.
We put our Christmas tree up! It was a really weird to put up the tree in summer clothes and without snow on the ground, but we made it and the boys were very excited to decorate the house.
We started our "Going Back To Michigan" countdown. We started at 31 days. Last night we tore number 22 off. Cannot believe it's going so quickly. We are beyond excited to see our family. :)
Nika is growing...A LOT. She is still in the puppy stage of biting and being annoying at times, but Grady loves her and likes to feed her some of his snacks.
Hans and seven other Dominican guys started working on the new womens social work site in El Callejon. He really loves working construction here and is quickly fitting right in with his Dominican Dialect.
We had a great Thanksgiving dinner at the base with some staff and the semester students. It was a VERY American meal with turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and pie.
I just finished a 12 weeks study on Titus 2 with a group of about 15 women. What a life-changing, eye-opening study for me. I learned so many things about who I really am as a follower of Christ, as a wife, as a mom, as a friend. I truly valued that time that we shared together to study God's word and look forward to starting back up in January with a new study.
Hans has been very busy being the head of the new construction project and also helping Rudy on another project in another community. He is mainly overseeing it right now, but gets in there and helps when he can. He just got together with some of the guys this past Saturday evening for dinner. Making relationships is so important and our prayer is that he would be able to show these guys Jesus through his life and his actions.
Grady~ This kid is growing up so much. He has grown an inch in five months and is learning so much. He is reading, counting to 100 in Spanish and English. He is learning many life lessons right now, things like not being selfish, being kind, being considerate, being helpful, etc. He loves school and loves the DR.
Wyatt~ He has also grown almost an inch since we've been here. He is talking up a storm and does not have the "baby" talk so much anymore. He often surprises me with some of the words that he uses. Words like "appropriate" "truth" and "probably" just crack me up. He loves school and loves his teachers. He knows every kids name in his class, I just wish we could understand what they are. Since they're Dominican names, they're not always easy to figure out. :)
Thank you for your prayers and support. We will be getting a newsletter out here within the week and look forward to maybe seeing some of you at Christmas time!!!
