The Preschools
Today was really exciting for me! I had the opportunity to visit the three preschools and the special education school on their first day of the new school year. It brought back a lot of those feelings from starting out the new year that I once had. The emotions for me today were very different than my six years of teaching...instead of feeling nervous and a little overwhelmed...I was excited for all the teachers to begin the year and excited that I will be able to help them out.
The group of teachers will be a lot of fun to work with. There are four women and one guy teachers and then there are two aides. Also, the special education school has five teachers and a director, but I'm not sure how much I'll actually be doing with them.
Overall, I am looking forward to spending days in their classrooms, getting to know them and the students, and helping them in any way that I can. I told one teacher today, "Think of me as the principle, but only here to help and not to lecture you and tell you what you're doing wrong...unless you need it of course." He was alright with that. :) So, my first duty is to put a schedule together for one of the teachers to help with a little organization and structure. I'm excited about doing the schedule because it was always something I looked forward to doing in my own classroom...I just normally did it before the school year started. :)
I'm thankful for the opportunity to get back into teaching.
