Trip to the D.R.

Hans and I visiting the Special Education school that S.I. has built and now runs.

Hans and I with Nate and Maggie Slabach (left) and Lowell and Sheryl Troyer (right). They are running S.I.

Here we are visiting Romona. She has started this business and come to know Jesus through S.I. and their microfinance program.

Nate and Maggie were so great. We stayed with them for a couple of days and they showed us Jarabacoa. Here they took us to the Jiminoa Falls.

Jiminoa Waterfall.

Hannah was with a team from Bethel so we got to visit with her while we were there.

We had dinner with a family in the community and Rudy (beside me) who works with S.I. in construction.
These are only a few pictures. I will post a slideshow when I get them all together. :)

As most of you know we have felt a calling to the mission field. Our initial destination was Costa Rica. We felt God was a closing a lot of doors and so we called it off. We were scared and confused thinking that maybe we weren't supposed to go. So, we prayed for God to really open our eyes to see what He had for us, and we found it a couple months later. After making a contact with a couple that were friends with my in-laws we decided that Students Internation in the Dominican Republic seemed like a good fit for us. We continued to pray about it. Everything kept falling into place and that's where we're at right now. :)

Hans and I spent a week in the D.R. to see, learn, and figure it all out. We interviewed for out positions and felt like part of the family right from the beginning. Hans will be doing construction/maintenance and I will be doing some mentoring/coaching of teachers and also teaching some English. We are so excited to start the process of raising funds to see what God will do. It is an awesome ministry they have there and we feel pretty special that God has called us to be a part of it. So, I have posted some pictures from our trip and I would like to ask everyone to pray for us as we begin our adventure.
